Commerical Development, City of London
The redevelopment of two redundant buildings -19/20 Garlick Hill and 4 Skinners Lane - located in the Queen Street Conservation Area of the City of London, and their replacement with a six storey mixed-use office building was welcomed by the City of London Planning Department and is currently under construction.
The building has a strong composition and uses Portland Stone and corten steel, the first corten building within the City.
St James of Garlickhythe, a Grade I listed ‘Baroque’ Church designed by Sir Christopher Wren is located adjacent to the site. Views from both Garlick Hill and the open space in front of the church influenced the design and massing.
