In redesigning and extending the ground floor of this 1950s semi-detached house in Shepherds Bush, we reconfigured a series of small, dark north facing rooms at the back of the house and extended the house to create open-plan family living, dining and kitchen areas.
The contemporary residential extension has an asymmetrical roof, clad in anthracite zinc, with two bespoke rooflights shaped and positioned to bring natural light into the north facing spaces throughout the day. Light falls on to the iron grey polished concrete floor and matt white herringbone wall tiling casting shadows to dramatic effect.
